Ecodan
Air-Sourced Heat Pump (ASHP)
From £6,500, subject to survey
The Ecodan comes in a range of three sizes, depending on your heating needs and the size of your property (see table below). From an initial assessment our installers Freesource can advise you on which model is more suitable for your home. After that the installation itself is relatively painless. The ASHP can be installed discretely to either a floor or a wall with no need for digging, flues or hooking up to the gas supply. All models are tested by BRE (Building Research Establishment) and have a three-year warranty.
The pump does need some electricity for it to work but by upgrading the energy in the air by over three times, the Ecodan ASHP is far more effective than a conventional boiler. And if the electricity is provided from renewable sources then you're well on your way to a zero carbon heating system.
Because the Ecodan is capable of reaching higher output temperatures than ground or lake source heat pumps, it can also be considered for houses with radiators. To make best use of the lower temperature heat offered by the Ecodan, lots of radiators, or the ability to add extra radiators is usually best.
